Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of your 28‑Day Dry Fire Program. You’ve built a stable grip, learned to lock in your support hand, and practiced taking up the slack with deliberate trigger prep. Today we bring all of that together with one of the most defining fundamentals in marksmanship: a smooth, straight trigger press.

Before you begin, anchor yourself in your safety routine.

Safety First — Every Single Time

  • Treat every firearm as if it’s loaded.

  • Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.

  • Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you’ve made the decision to fire.

  • Be sure of your target and what’s beyond it.

Clear your firearm. Clear your space. Remove all live ammunition from the room. Your discipline is what makes this training effective and safe.

Today’s Focus — Trigger Press: Smooth & Straight

The trigger press is where everything either comes together… or falls apart. A clean press keeps your sights stable, your shots predictable, and your confidence high. A rushed or uneven press introduces movement you’ll fight against every time.

Today is about eliminating that unnecessary movement and teaching your trigger finger to work independently from the rest of your hand.

Why a Smooth, Straight Press Matters

  • It prevents the gun from being pushed, dragged, or torqued off target.

  • It reinforces consistency—your sights stay aligned through the entire press.

  • It builds trust in your mechanics, reducing anticipation and flinching.

  • It allows your strong hand to stay relaxed while your support hand does the stabilizing.

How to Execute the Press

  • Start with your trigger prep—take up the slack until you’re on the wall.

  • From the wall, press straight to the rear with steady, even pressure.

  • No jerking. No rushing. No “snatching” at the break.

  • Watch your sights. They should remain stable through the entire press.

  • Reset, re‑prep, and repeat with intention.

Today is about control. You’re teaching your trigger finger to move like a precision tool, not a reaction. Ten minutes of focused reps will elevate every shot you take moving forward.
