Join NowDay 3
You’re stepping into Day 3 of your 28‑Day Dry Fire Program, and today we’re sharpening one of the most influential skills in your shooting: trigger prep. This is where discipline meets finesse. Before we get into the work, ground yourself in your safety routine.
Safety First — No Exceptions
Treat every firearm as if it’s loaded.
Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you’ve made the decision to fire.
Be sure of your target and what’s beyond it.
Clear your firearm. Clear your space. Remove all live ammunition from the room. Your consistency with safety is part of your identity as a responsible, skilled shooter.
Today’s Focus — Trigger Prep: Taking Up the Slack
Trigger prep is the quiet, controlled movement that sets you up for a clean, predictable shot. It’s not the break itself—it’s everything that happens before the break. When you master this, your accuracy improves, your confidence grows, and your shooting becomes smoother and more deliberate.
Why Trigger Prep Matters
It removes unnecessary movement before the shot, keeping your sights stable.
It allows you to manage the trigger in stages instead of one rushed motion.
It builds consistency—your trigger finger learns exactly where the wall is every time.
It reduces anticipation and flinching because you’re in control of the process, not reacting to it.
How to Take Up the Slack
Establish your grip first—your trigger finger only works well when the rest of your structure is stable.
Place your finger on the trigger and slowly press until you reach the “wall”—that point of resistance before the break.
Hold that prep. Feel it. Own it.
Release and repeat with smooth, deliberate motion. No speed. No rush.
Your goal is to make this movement identical every single rep.
Today is about awareness. Feel the mechanics. Feel the control. You’re teaching your trigger finger to move with intention, not impulse.
Ten minutes of focused reps will pay off in every live‑fire session you do from here on out.
